Guidelines for creating Excel worksheet to use as an integration

Help! New to GP and cannot find documentation anywhere that will guide me through formatting an excel spreadsheet to import into GP. The arrangement guides do not address this. Does anyone know where I can discover guidance?

Hi Tracy,

In that location is no guide that I'thou aware of, but here are some rules that I tin can recall of.

Define a range. Integration Manager does non work off of the tab names.
Don't use whatever reserved words equally your header tape. If you don't know what they are, avert words like Date. Utilise MyDate instead, or something similar that.
Only include the columns and rows in your range that yous want to import, practise non include a bunch of blank columns.
Don't use the same column proper name twice in the same range.
Make sure the correct data type is used by Integration director. (cord, number, etc)
If you lot want to import 0000, make sure you have it formatted every bit Text in Integration Manager. Put a unmarried quote in front of the contents. So the prison cell would look similar '0000

Tracy, Leslie makes splendid points. What type of data are you trying to import. There are some fantabulous tools that allow you to import directly into GP from Excel without using Integration Manager. Excel does have a nasty habit of trimming away leading zeroes so mind Leslie'southward advice.

The issue at hand is importing payroll transactions, but I like to understand what I'k doing and then I wanted to know if at that place were general guidelines that would help for any types of import.
